Summer Skies ring

Remember the Jungle Ring?  This is its little sister.

I made this in June, and it behaved itself every step of the way.  It's petite and comfortable, I'm pleased with both texture and composition, and the combination of calcite inclusions and deep blue fire in the opal make it look so much like the top of the sky on the longest, hottest day of the year, it dictated the name of the ring.  I'd never set a flat-topped stone before, so I was very surprised when that went well.  I'd like to do more fusion rings.

Fused & soldered sterling silver, opal doublet? (I think it's a doublet...) and Thai moonstone.  Second pic there is for showing off the opal's fire.
